Providing specialized technical support, the full-time Master Course Approval Subject Matter Expert (Top-Level Deck Mariner) will evaluate maritime training courses and ensure compliance with national regulations and international standards, with flexibility to work remotely or onsite in Martinsburg, WV.Key responsibilitiesEvaluate maritime training provider courses, curricula, training sites, and instructors for regulatory complianceFormulate recommendations and draft formal responses for the Coast Guard based on evaluationsMaintain a high volume of quality evaluations, processing a minimum of 20 course approvals per monthRequired qualificationsMust hold or have previously held a U.S. Coast Guard-issued Merchant Mariner Credential endorsed as Master of Unlimited Tonnage upon Oceans or Chief Mate of Unlimited Tonnage upon OceansA minimum of 5 years of experience sailing on the required credentialAbility to obtain and maintain a favorable security screening/USCG SuitabilityAdvanced understanding of maritime regulations and Coast Guard policiesExceptional written communication skills for drafting official correspondence and technical recommendations
