2026-2027 Crossing GuardWork under minimal supervision to assist children and others to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours.Must be at least 18 years of ageValid Class C driver's licenseBasic knowledge of traffic safety regulationsAbility to identify and respond quickly to traffic safety hazardsMust demonstrate willingness to work with childrenAbility to communicate instructions effectively to both children and adultsAbility to read, understand, and follow written instructionsWilling to work outdoors on every school day, no matter the weatherAssist children and other community members to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours without undue delay for vehicle traffic.Manage heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.Manage large groups and unruly children.Identify potential traffic safety hazards and respond quickly to protect children and avoid incidents.Ensure a smooth and expedient flow of both vehicular and foot traffic.Follow and uphold district safety requirements and report traffic violations and student misconduct in accordance with district procedures.Communicate safety and traffic rules to students and parents as needed.Correct unsafe conditions when possible and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor as soon as practicable.Assist buses in providing a safe entrance and exit to and from schools onto city streets.Supply counts and reports as requested.Report any person loitering in vicinity of or interfering with a guard/controller.Prolonged sitting and standingStrenuous walking and climbing; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; frequent drivingModerate lifting and carrying (15 - 44 pounds)Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather).
