Summary
Position Overview: Under the administration of the Youth Services Manager participates in the general operation and support of Youth Services. Provide direct services children by performing reference, readers' advisory service, and programming. May at times provide services to adults and teens. Contribute to creating a friendly and positive library experience.Duties & Responsibilities: Performs readers advisory and reference servicesPlan and present library programsPrepare craft projects and other kits for patrons to take and makeAssists with outreach visits, library tours, and school visitsAids in the creation of library displays, bulletin board design and some publicityInstruct patrons on the use of computers, databases, other technology and social mediaCollaborates with colleagues within and across departmentsAccomplish additional projects or clerical tasks as neededRequirements: Ability to communicate effectively with public and staff in a positive mannerAbility to take direction and assignments from supervisorsWillingness to ask questions and seek clarification if unsure of taskWilling to accept feedbackPositive attitude with people from all backgrounds and abilitiesKnowledge of general library operationsMaintains current knowledge of library trends, materials, practices, techniques and technologyComputer literacy along with knowledge of office equipmentCompetency to navigate through a wide variety of social media platformsExercise resourcefulness to achieve library goalsPhysical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job.Ability to push book carts weighing up to 100 pounds occasionallyMay require standing for prolonged periods of timeAbility to move and/or lift materials up to 30 poundsRegularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, reach, climb, balance, and sitQualifications: LTA certificate or applicable Associate's or Bachelor's degree requiredExperience working with children required2 years public library experience preferredExperience in arts and craft a plusMust be available to work an arrangement of days, nights & weekendsHours and Wage: 16 hours per week1 Sunday shift a month between September through MayFox Lake District Library 255 E Grand Ave Fox Lake , IL 6002016 hours per week 1 Sunday shift a month between September through May#J-18808-Ljbffr
