OPS JUVENILE JUSTICE DETENTION OFFICER ILocation: Palm Beach Regional Juvenile Detention Center, 1100 W 45th Street, Building A, Palm Beach, FL 33407Pay: $19.95 hourlyResponsibilitiesEnsure public safety by maintaining a safe and secure environment for troubled youth in a structured setting.Lead, coach, and mentor youth through supervision and intervention.Conduct strip searches and enforce safety procedures.Maintain hygiene and housekeeping tasks to uphold sanitary conditions.Recognize signs of potential suicide or depression and intervene appropriately.Address and resolve issues affecting youth behavior and well‑being.Determine appropriate levels of force and use conflict‑management techniques.Provide constructive feedback to correct behavior.Prepare and maintain reports and records related to youth supervision.Coordinate shift schedules (rotating shifts, evenings, weekends, holidays) and be available for unplanned overtime or double shifts.QualificationsAt least 19 years old.High school graduate or equivalent.No convicted felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or false statements; no dishonorable discharge from the U.S. Armed Forces.Undergoes fingerprinting, background investigations, and other screening requirements.Executed affidavit of application in compliance with statutory requirements.Knowledge of department policies and procedures governing care, custody, and control of youth.Knowledge of facility operating procedures, safety procedures, and strip‑search protocols.Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance of sanitary conditions.Skills in recognizing signs of suicide or depression and addressing youth issues.Ability to assess use of force, provide feedback, prepare reports, and perform basic arithmetic.Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with youth, coworkers, supervisors, and the public.Valid driver's license required for positions involving transportation duties; must maintain a clean driving record.Completion of direct‑care training certification within 180 days of hire.BenefitsPaid hourly wage of $19.95.
