Job Description
The Junior Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) supports the implementation, assessment, and continuous monitoring of cybersecurity controls across DoD information systems. Working under the guidance of senior cybersecurity engineers and ISSMs, this individual assists with vulnerability management, STIG compliance, RMF documentation, security assessments, and remediation activities. The Junior ISSE will gain hands-on experience with enterprise security tools, cybersecurity frameworks, and DoD security requirements while contributing to the protection of mission-critical systems.

Skills and Requirements
Active Secret Clearance
1-3 years of cybersecurity, information assurance, security engineering, or system administration experience.
Understanding of DoD cybersecurity policies and Risk Management Framework (RMF).
Familiarity with DISA STIGs, vulnerability management, and security compliance concepts.
Exposure to vulnerability scanning tools such as Tenable, ACAS, Nessus, or similar platforms.
Understanding of Windows and/or Linux operating systems.
Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and access controls.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical findings.
Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Exposure to RMF processes, ATO packages, and NIST 800-53 controls.
Experience supporting DoD, government, or defense contractor environments.
Familiarity with scripting or automation using PowerShell or Python.
Knowledge of cybersecurity tools such as CyberArk, Splunk, CrowdStrike, Tenable, or Microsoft Defender.
Experience working in a SOC, vulnerability management, systems administration, or help desk environment.
