Our Office strives for excellence in serving the citizens of Harvey County.Harvey County is located in the Wichita Metropolitan Area which brings different challenges and opportunities for experience. Harvey County also encompasses rural law enforcement challenges, which makes for a good blend of law enforcement experience.Harvey County Deputies enjoy strong community support and works closely with the community to address problems. These include the following.Criminal Interdiction UnitField Training ProgramsActive Multi-Jurisdictional SWAT TeamBike PatrolLeadership TrainingK-9 TeamInvestigations DivisionResponsibilities: Provides law enforcement and public safety services to all of Harvey County. Enforcement of criminal statutes, traffic statutes, accident investigations and other non-criminal public safety services.Requirements: Must be a United States citizen. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must be 21 years of age upon date of hire. Must not have committed or been convicted of, had a conviction expunged for or been placed on diversion by any state or federal agency for a felony or domestic violence crime. Must possess a valid driver's license prior to beginning employment. Must reside within 30 minutes of the Harvey County line. Must have or be able to obtain certification as a law enforcement officer issued through the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC).Applicant Testing Process: The testing requirements for the Harvey County Sheriff's Office are as follows. Applicants must pass these requirements to be considered for employment.Physical Agility TestingOral InterviewPolygraph ExaminationPsychological ExaminationPhysical ExaminationWork Schedule: Patrol schedule includes rotating 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays and assigned overtime shifts.
