Summary

SCOPE OF WORK

This position is within our Sequoia Community Corps – Susan Harwood Safety Training Outreach Program. This position works with the Program Coordinator to develop and conduct safety presentations. The incumbent of this position also assists with case management to track participation, enhance customer service skills, and ensure goals are being met.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Assists in developing OSHA curriculum in accordance with Susan Harwood topics and standards

  • Conducts OSHA-approved trainings in English and Spanish

  • Translates forms, documents, and curriculum to Spanish

  • Is diligent in time management to meet program deadlines

  • Works in collaboration with funding sources, partners, and staff in promoting and furthering program goals and objectives

  • Facilitates trainings and workshops

  • Initiates and maintains ongoing collaboration with a variety of business and industry representatives to promote the Susan Harwood Program and provide targeted topic training to their employees

  • Develops training plans and determines appropriate training methods for trainees

  • Maintains communication with employers during the grant period and provides support by giving referrals for safety-related issues

  • Prepares and modifies documents including correspondence, reports, memos, and emails

  • Conducts pre- and post-testing requirements

  • Remains updated on program requirements

  • Completes required reports on the progress of program milestones and activities

  • Promotes and implements marketing opportunities and other activities that inform the community about the program and its participants

  • Models positive behavior expected of program staff

  • Participates in and travels to outreach events and meetings with partner agencies as assigned

  • Participates in training and professional development to build required knowledge for the position

  • Performs other duties including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies, and procedures

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Ability to uphold company principles and practices to the highest degree and represent the agency in a professional manner

  • Provide exceptional customer service for individuals from various backgrounds, including efficient, precise, and courteous communication in a dignified environment

  • Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers, employees of the organization, or outside partners

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with employers, co-workers, members of other agencies, and the general public

  • Ability to deal with customers and staff in a calm, professional, friendly, and patient manner

  • Ability to work under pressure and with different types of personalities

  • Knowledgeable in modern office procedures and methods; proficient in the use of a computer, Windows operating system, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and program database

  • Strong communication skills, research abilities, flexibility, and an ability to work well with others

  • Ability to read and interpret documents

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Knowledge of the local labor market and employer expectations

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

  • In-depth knowledge of all aspects of the various company programs and the ability to communicate policy information in a clear and detailed manner

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal/no supervision

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in written form

WORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.   • Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for long periods

  • Must have the visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances (computer screens)

  • Must maintain a clean DMV record and be eligible to be added to and remain on the agency's vehicle insurance

  • Must be able to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving lifting up to 25 lbs., carrying, pushing, and pulling

  • Must be able to read, understand, and explain various forms and written material

COMPENSATION

Pay Range: $21.36 – $22.11 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with California and federal law. Overtime requires prior supervisor approval.
