Summary
Fraud InvestigatorPay Range: $22.61 - $30.15Responsible for investigating external fraud investigations in the area of check fraud, identity theft, online fraud and cyber fraud as assigned by their Supervisor/Manager. Assists with duties and decisions relating to fraudulent applications, transactions, and customer fraud claims. Develops solutions to problems based on experience and existing precedents or procedures.Education and Experience:Experience investigating various types of fraud at a financial institution preferredBachelor's Degree in Economic/Financial Crime or Criminal Justice or equivalent work experience preferredSkills and Abilities:Team player with strong organizational, communication, analytical and PC skills (especially Microsoft Excel)Ability to research/analyze data and recognize/evaluate patterns of customer activity.Aptitude to develop investigative skills with beginning understanding of types of fraud that can occur in a banking environment, but not limited to deposit fraud, internal fraud, card fraud, ACH & wire fraud, kiting and money laundering.Ability to present information and case details professionally and may need to communicate to Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Officers of the Court and Adult Protective ServicesAbility to multi-task, working multiple inquiries/investigations simultaneously.Ability to communicate professionally with customers.Tasks Performed:40% - Researches and analyzes high risk transactions across all payment channels with a sense of urgency in a fast paced environment to identify possible cases of fraud. Conducts thorough research and analysis of fraudulent activity related to consumer and business accounts referred by other departments.15% - Proactively review existing internal fraud monitoring reports to identify and mitigate fraud events such as counterfeit checks, mobile deposits, kiting, debit card fraud, elder fraud, etc.10% - Maintain and update case management system for tracking of fraud cases and relevant information.
