FLSA Status: ExemptPosition SummaryThe Technical Services Librarian/Instructor oversees cataloging, government documents, systems, and book repair while providing reference instruction and liaison services to support the academic mission of the university community.Essential Job DutiesOversees all cataloging, classification, and processing of library materials in all formats.Administers library systems including OCLC Cataloging and Metadata, FOLIO ILS, and SpringShare LibApps.Supervises the repair of damaged materials.Serves as a Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) liaison.Creates and maintains LibWizard forms for department operations.Provides instruction on library use and research skills in classroom, online, and reference desk settings.Serves as liaison to academic departments for research and collection development.Collaborates with faculty on information literacy curriculum development and special projects.Participates in university and library committee work.Maintains current knowledge of emerging trends and best practices through professional development.Other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.Omission of specific statement of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.QualificationsMaster's of Library Science from an ALA accredited program - experienced librarians, recent graduates, and current students from ALA-accredited MLS programs are encouraged to apply1-2 years of experience preferredExperience with cataloging preferredLicenses/CertificationsNoneKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong knowledge of principles and practices of academic librarianshipFamiliarity with ILS software, AACR2, RDA, Library of Congress Classification, and Library of Congress SubjectHeadings preferredExperience with budget management and vendor relations preferredExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong organizational and time management abilitiesDemonstrated ability to provide effective instruction and reference servicesAbility to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and studentsProficient with Microsoft Office and library software applicationsMust have a strong work ethic and lead by exampleMust be a professional, credible and respected representative of the institution internally and in the communityDemonstrated willingness and ability to act ethically and socially responsibleAbility to communicate in a courteous mannerPhysical DemandsFrequently required to remain in a seated position for extended periodsFrequently required to move about the office, library, and campusFrequently required to communicate effectively with diverse populationsRegularly performs tasks that involve repetitive wrist and finger movementRegularly operates a computer and other standard office equipmentWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
