Summary

General Definition: The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and property through active patrol, observation, and timely response to incidents. They will do this by documenting incidents accurately, supports internal teams and law enforcement as needed, and serves as a visible presence to deter unsafe or unauthorized activity while delivering a positive guest experience.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintain the safety and well-being of guests and employees through active patrol, observation, and timely response to incidents and emergencies.
  • Responds promptly and professionally to emergencies, incidents, and service calls, including medical situations, disturbances, policy violations, and safety concerns.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively via two-way radio to coordinate responses, relay critical information, and request assistance.
  • Serves as first responder to incidents and service calls, arriving promptly on scene to assess situations, take appropriate action, and initiate de-escalation efforts when possible.
  • Conduct continuous patrols of the casino, adjacent buildings, and exterior areas, maintaining a visible security presence and identifying hazards, suspicious activity, and security breaches.
  • Provide guest assistance, including directions and escorts, and regularly escort employees in money-handling positions.
  • Observe, assess, and report incidents accurately and without delay, escalating concerns through appropriate channels.
  • Use sound judgment and quick decision-making in dynamic situations by utilizing critical thinking and problem-solving skills to resolve issues efficiently and safely.
  • Prepare clear, timely, and detailed incident, accident, and activity reports.
  • Enforce internal security policies and procedures consistently and professionally.
  • Monitor access points, surveillance equipment, and assigned static posts to ensure compliance with age restrictions and security standards.
  • Assist law enforcement and internal departments in a cooperative and professional manner.
  • Document and secure lost and found items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prevent loss and damage by identifying irregularities early and informing violators of policies and procedures.
  • Direct traffic during events, incidents, or peak operational periods as needed.
  • Support team operations during routine duties and emergency situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage and influence across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, exercising sound judgment, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays
Training and Experience:
  • Must be able to pass Title 31 training.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of guest service or similar experience.
  • Prior experience in surveillance, security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
