About the CompanyBranch Safety Officer (BSO) Action Equipment & Scaffold Co. is seeking an experienced Branch Safety Officer (BSO) for our Phoenix operations.About the RoleThis is a hands-on, field-based safety position supporting scaffold erection and dismantling operations throughout the Phoenix area. We are looking for someone who understands construction, can communicate effectively with field employees and management, and is comfortable holding crews accountable to company and customer safety requirements. Previous scaffold experience is required. Safety experience is preferred.ResponsibilitiesThe Branch Safety Officer will be responsible for supporting and improving the day-to-day safety performance of our Phoenix branch, including:Conducting regular jobsite safety inspections and field auditsWorking directly with scaffold crews, foremen, general foremen, and superintendentsIdentifying unsafe conditions and correcting issues before they result in incidentsEnsuring compliance with company fall-protection, scaffold, PPE, and safe-work requirementsAssisting with new-hire safety orientation and onboardingConducting and supporting toolbox talks and safety meetingsReviewing JHAs, work plans, permits, and other required safety documentationAssisting with incident, injury, vehicle, and near-miss investigationsCompleting incident documentation and ensuring corrective actions are followed throughMaintaining branch safety equipment, PPE, and safety-related inventorySupporting customer and project-specific safety requirementsAssisting with employee training and competency verificationMonitoring employee compliance with company policies and proceduresWorking with branch and corporate management to improve safety performanceMaintaining professional relationships with customers, field supervision, and employeesTraveling to active jobsites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area as requiredQualificationsRequired:Previous scaffold erection/dismantling experienceStrong understanding of scaffold construction and field operationsWorking knowledge of fall protection and construction safety practicesAbility to recognize unsafe scaffold conditions and unsafe work practicesStrong communication and leadership skillsAbility to professionally address and correct employees at all levelsValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordAbility to work independently and manage multiple active jobsitesBasic computer and documentation skillsPreferred:Previous construction safety experienceExperience as a scaffold Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, Competent Person, or Safety RepresentativeOSHA 30 certificationScaffold Competent Person trainingFirst Aid/CPR certificationExperience conducting incident investigations and safety trainingExperience working with commercial and industrial construction customersRequired SkillsUnderstands constructionCan communicate effectively with field employees and managementComfortable holding crews accountable to company and customer safety requirementsComfortable spending the majority of their time in the field, interacting with crews, identifying problems, coaching employees, and holding people accountable when expectations are not being metCan earn the respect of experienced scaffold builders while still being willing to stop work or correct unsafe behavior when necessaryFirm, fair, professional, and consistentPreferred SkillsPrevious scaffold experienceSafety experiencePay range and compensation package$65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experienceFull-time, permanent positionPhoenix-based positionCompetitive benefits packageCompany vehicle / Fuel Card provided for business use as applicableLong-term opportunity with an established scaffold and access companyEqual Opportunity StatementWhat We're Looking For We are looking for someone who understands that safety is more than paperwork.
