Summary

A global alternative investment firm is adding to its Investments Risk team. The team puts money with hedge fund managers and uses its own risk tools to decide who to back, how much, and when.

The core models are already built. This seat uses them, improves them, and explains what they show. You will present your work to the Investment Committee, portfolio managers and clients. It is not a heads-down coding job. Expect real freedom. Some days you pick the problem worth solving. Other days you solve a known problem with no playbook.

What you'll own

  • Build and maintain risk models for hedge fund investments: factor and alpha breakdown, stress tests, scenario analysis
  • Work in Python with large structured datasets (SQL, data lake), using AI tools where they help
  • Support manager evaluation and portfolio construction with clear risk analysis
  • Track risk exposures, factor trends and market conditions across hedge fund strategies
  • Partner with portfolio managers and the Investment Committee on portfolio risk
  • Build polished risk and performance reports for internal leaders and investor requests
  • Chance to meet investors directly as you grow in the seat

What you bring

  • Bachelor's or Master's in a quant field (CS, Math, Statistics, Econometrics, Financial Engineering) or equal technical experience
  • 3 to 7 years in investment analysis, risk management or asset allocation
  • Strong Python skills and hands-on work with large datasets
  • Clear writer and speaker who turns technical work into plain conclusions
  • Strong PowerPoint skills, comfortable presenting to senior leaders
  • High ownership. You do your best work without a step-by-step brief

Nice to have

  • Hedge fund, multi-manager or absolute return experience
  • Portfolio optimization or factor model experience
  • Background at a fund of funds, OCIO, endowment, pension or multi-strategy fund

Details

  • Hybrid in Chicago, in office Tuesday through Thursday
  • $175,000 - $215,000 base plus annual bonus
  • Full benefits
