Summary

Our client is a fast-growing, profitable clean energy finance platform. It started in renewable energy tax credit transfers and now runs an end-to-end process for buyers and sellers, covering sourcing, underwriting, diligence, legal coordination, and execution. It has facilitated billions of dollars of tax credits for hundreds of developers, focused on middle-market C&I, community solar, residential, and other projects generally under 20 MW. The company has built its own diligence technology, is raising new capital, and is expanding into construction loans, bridge financing, tax equity, preferred equity, and project finance.

The role

Our client is hiring a VP / Principal to build and lead its project finance and capital solutions business from the ground up. You'll work directly with the founders and shape how the company develops its next generation of financial products. This is an entrepreneurial seat for someone who wants to build a function, not inherit one. You'll originate, structure, and execute transactions across the capital stack, drawing on your own relationships and an established developer network.

The background is deliberately open. Candidates from project finance, structured finance, investment banking, infrastructure investing, or development finance are welcome, provided they have meaningful clean energy experience.

What you'll do

  • Build and lead the project finance and capital solutions function
  • Originate opportunities through existing relationships and build new ones across developers, lenders, investors, tax equity providers, and other capital partners
  • Structure and execute project debt, construction financing, bridge financing, tax equity, preferred equity, and other structured capital
  • Lead underwriting, transaction structuring, diligence, negotiation, and execution
  • Expand existing client relationships into additional financing products
  • Partner with the tax credit team to find opportunities across transactions
  • Give senior-level guidance on transaction risk, structuring, and capital markets
  • Work with product and engineering to turn transaction workflows into technology improvements
  • Help build the strategy, processes, and team needed to scale the business line

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience in project finance, structured finance, investment banking, infrastructure investing, development finance, or a related discipline
  • Meaningful clean energy, renewable energy, or energy infrastructure experience, with a strong grasp of the clean energy capital stack
  • A track record of originating, structuring, and executing transactions
  • Project debt or construction financing experience strongly preferred
  • Exposure to tax equity, preferred equity, bridge financing, or other structured capital preferred
  • A network across clean energy developers, lenders, investors, or other capital providers
  • Strong financial modeling, underwriting, and execution skills
  • Ability to work with senior counterparties and clients
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable operating independently in a lean, fast-moving organization
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-management skills

Experience managing or executing renewable energy tax credit transactions is highly valued, but candidates with broader project or structured finance backgrounds will be considered.

Why this role

  • Own the development of a new business line at a pivotal point in the company's growth
  • Work directly with the founders on strategy
  • Leverage an established developer network and work across multiple areas of the capital stack
  • Influence the product and technology roadmap and help shape future hiring
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k), FSA and commuter benefits, and 29 paid holidays
