About the Role
We are seeking a highly technical Staff or Lead AI Engineer to help design, build, and scale next-generation AI-powered products. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, AI application development, architecture, and product ownership. You will be responsible for building agentic AI systems, orchestrating complex workflows, integrating LLMs into customer-facing products, and helping define the technical direction of emerging AI capabilities. The ideal candidate is an engineer first, someone who still writes code daily, has recently built production AI solutions, and is comfortable operating across architecture, development, and delivery.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI-powered applications, agents, and workflow orchestration solutions
- Build production-grade systems leveraging LLMs, prompt engineering, tool-calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
- Develop software across TypeScript, Python, and .NET/C#
- Architect scalable cloud-native solutions and distributed systems
- Create APIs, integrations, and event-driven workflows that support intelligent automation initiatives
- Evaluate and improve AI system performance through testing, observability, and measurement frameworks
- Partner with business and product stakeholders to translate ambiguous requirements into technical solutions
- Own technical delivery from design through deployment, release management, and post-production support
- Drive automation initiatives that reduce manual processes and operational overhead
- Mentor engineers and influence engineering standards, architecture decisions, and development practices
Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering, architecture, or technical leadership experience
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience building applications with Large Language Models (LLMs)
- Experience with AI agents, prompt engineering, tool-calling, RAG, or related GenAI technologies
- Daily user of AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar coding assistants
- Strong software development experience in at least one of the following:
- TypeScript
- Python
- C# / .NET
- Ability to design scalable architectures, APIs, integrations, and distributed systems
- Experience owning technical delivery for complex products, platforms, or enterprise initiatives
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Temporal, Cadence, AWS Step Functions, or similar workflow orchestration platforms
- Experience building and deploying AI workloads on GCP, including Vertex AI, Gemini, Cloud Run, or GKE
- Experience developing modern web or mobile applications using React, Next.js, React Native, or Expo
- Familiarity with AI observability and evaluation tools such as Langfuse or OpenTelemetry
- Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, vector databases, embeddings, or search technologies
- Knowledge of cloud infrastructure automation using Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience in eCommerce, retail technology, order management, logistics, or workflow-driven business domains
- Prior experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Technical Lead, Solutions Architect, or Engineering Lead
