Join a fast-growing, entrepreneurial commercial general contractor specializing in nationwide hotel renovations, brand conversions, and ground-up hospitality construction. This opportunity offers the chance to lead complex projects for leading national hotel brands while working in occupied buildings where quality, safety, schedule control, and minimizing guest disruption are essential. As a Traveling Superintendent, you will take ownership of daily field operations, collaborate directly with hotel ownership and brand representatives, and grow with a high-performance construction team.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily field operations for assigned hotel renovation and ground-up construction projects nationwide.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain productivity and project quality.
- Maintain project schedules, lead daily site meetings, and ensure critical milestones are achieved.
- Enforce OSHA safety requirements and company safety policies while promoting a safe, organized job site.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to identify and resolve field issues.
- Perform quality control inspections and ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and hotel brand standards.
- Coordinate inspections, deliveries, manpower, materials, and access requirements with project stakeholders.
- Prepare daily reports documenting progress, manpower, photos, weather, delays, and safety observations.
- Partner with Project Managers to monitor budgets, control costs, complete punch lists, and support project closeout.
- Build strong relationships with hotel management to minimize disruption to guests and active hotel operations.
Must-Have Skills:
- At least 3 years of experience as a Superintendent in commercial construction.
- Experience with hospitality construction, hotel renovations, or occupied-building projects strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, quality control, and project coordination.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals.
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction-site safety practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and vendors in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States, up to 100%.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel by air and automobile.
- Ability to walk construction sites, climb ladders and stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to successfully complete a background check.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience managing renovations for major hotel brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, IHG, Choice, or Wyndham.
- Proficiency with Procore or comparable construction project management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with hotel brand standards, conversions, and occupied-building construction logistics.
- Strong project reporting, progress documentation, and closeout experience.
- Experience coordinating owner training, warranty documentation, final inspections, and project turnover.
