As part of a multidisciplinary team serving the NIH Intramural Research Program, you'll contribute to a mission-driven organization of more than 2,000 professionals across 30 departments. Located on the NIH campus, the Clinical Center's expansive, state-of-the-art complex spans 3.5 million square feet and brings together clinicians, researchers, and healthcare specialists dedicated to improving patient outcomes through scientific discovery.
Position Details
- Pay Rate: Starting at: $38.92/hr + $5.42/hr H&W
- Contract length: 13 weeks with the potential for funding extension
- Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm; 24-hour call weekdays, weekends, and holidays

What You'll Do
- Provide nursing care before, during, and after interventional radiology procedures.
- Assess and prepare patients, establish vascular access, and verify required clinical information and consent.
- Administer medications, contrast, and moderate sedation within scope of practice and NIH policy.
- Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygenation, pain, and level of consciousness throughout procedures and recovery.
- Assist with image-guided procedures while maintaining sterile technique and patient safety.
- Recognize and respond to changes in condition, procedural complications, and emergencies.
- Complete post-procedure monitoring, patient education, clinical handoffs, and timely documentation.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and follow NIH, Joint Commission, infection-control, confidentiality, and radiation-safety requirements.
Requirements
- Education: Undergraduate or graduate nursing degree appropriate to the Radiology subspecialty
- Licensure: Current, active, valid, unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
- Certifications: Staffing request: ACLS; BLS; PALS
- Experience: 2 years of strong IV and procedural experience
- Credentialing: Candidates must successfully complete NIH Clinical Center credentialing and onboarding, including verification of licensure, education, experience, clinical competency, health and immunization requirements, N95 fit testing, background processing, orientation, and required training. U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.
