Hours: 40 hrs/week - 4x10s, Monday-Thursday, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
We are seeking a Construction Manager to support H2C's Tank Farm Projects organization. The Construction Manager will independently manage construction projects from initiation through closeout and apply extensive, diversified knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage all conventional aspects of small-to-medium EPC, capital improvement, and facility/infrastructure upgrade projects from initiation through closeout.
- Manage fixed-price and time & material contracts with a variety of subcontractors across multiple facilities.
- Interface with ESH&Q, Procurement, Engineering, and Operations in preparing, issuing, and performing construction contracts.
- Perform routine field walkdowns of construction sites and interface with subcontractor management.
- Manage pre-construction activities and coordinate deployed and matrix resources.
- Define project objectives and expectations for Constructability Reviews; may lead Constructability Review meetings and identify gaps and major risk areas.
- Ensure facility/site conditions that may impact the work are defined for construction planning.
- May perform off-site inspection of in-process and completed electrical assemblies prior to shipment.
- Support Procurement with pre-bid questions, answers, and RFP addenda; participate in technical proposal review and resolve contract issues prior to award.
- Notify the Task Project Manager and Manager of Construction of unforeseen issues that may impact planning or the project baseline.
- Make independent decisions on engineering problems and methods, and represent the department in conferences to resolve important questions.
- Comply with company policies and procedures and incorporate ISMS principles into all activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Ten (10) years of related experience.
- Years used to substitute for the degree do NOT count toward the 10 years.
- Experience managing construction staff or projects.
- High-risk construction experience.
- U.S. Citizen.
- Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Department of Energy nuclear facility.
- Experience with electrical and instrument/control field installations on a construction project.
- Knowledge of the development and process of construction contracts.
- Previous experience with high-risk radiological work.
- Current Hanford training (Rad Worker II, 24-hr HAZWOPER TSD, respirator qualifications) is a strong plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Routine field walkdowns of construction sites and tank farms. Must be able to wear respiratory protection (SCBA/APR/PAPR) and pass quantitative mask fit testing.
- Must be capable of climbing, walking, kneeling, bending, and lifting as part of daily job responsibilities. Ability to lift a minimum of 35 – 60 lbs.
