JOB OPPORTUNITY: Gallery & Visitor Services CoordinatorJOB OPPORTUNITY: Gallery & Visitor Services Coordinator Petaluma Arts Center Part-Time | 16 hours per month Hourly Rate: $28.00/hour Schedule: Primarily Saturdays or Sundays, with occasional event supportPosition Summary The Gallery & Visitor Services Coordinator serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable point of contact for visitors to Petaluma Arts Center. This part-time position provides occasional weekend gallery coverage, supports a positive visitor experience, and is responsible for opening and closing the Art Center during assigned shifts.The ideal candidate is friendly, reliable, organized, comfortable working independently, and enthusiastic about connecting people with art and the community.Key Responsibilities Gallery & Visitor ServicesWelcome visitors and provide a warm, engaging experience.Answer questions about current exhibitions, programs, membership, and the Art Center.Monitor the gallery and help maintain a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and artwork.Assist visitors with purchases, memberships, donations, and other front-desk transactions as needed.Keep the visitor services area and public spaces organized and presentable.Opening & ClosingOpen the Art Center according to established procedures, including unlocking doors, turning on lights, preparing the gallery and visitor services area, and completing opening checks.Close the Art Center at the end of the shift, including securing artwork and public areas, shutting down equipment as needed, and locking the building.Follow all established opening and closing, safety, and security procedures.Event SupportProvide occasional visitor services and front-desk support during PAC events, programs, receptions, and special events.Assist with guest check-in, ticketing, memberships, donations, and other event-related needs.Assist with basic event setup and breakdown as needed.Communication & OperationsCommunicate visitor concerns, facility issues, incidents, or other important information to PAC management.Complete required front-desk records and procedures.Follow PAC policies and procedures related to visitor services, safety, security, and cash handling.Qualifications Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Reliable, punctual, and comfortable working independently.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Comfortable using basic technology, including computers, tablets, and point-of-sale systems.Interest in art, culture, and community engagement preferred.Previous experience in a gallery, museum, arts organization, retail, hospitality, or other customer-facing environment is a plus.Schedule & Compensation This position averages 16 hours per month , primarily covering occasional Saturday or Sunday gallery shifts, with additional hours as needed for special events.Compensation: $28.00 per hour.Because this is a limited-hour position, shifts will be scheduled in advance based on PAC's gallery schedule and staffing needs.Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to stand and walk throughout the gallery for portions of the shift and assist with light event setup and breakdown.About Petaluma Arts Center Petaluma Arts Center is a community arts organization dedicated to presenting exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural experiences that connect people through art.
