Summary

Public Health Officer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures for crew members on board the cruise ship
  • Conduct regular health and safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company and industry standards
  • Provide training and education to crew members on topics such as hygiene, disease prevention, and emergency response
  • Monitor and assess the health status of crew members and provide appropriate medical care as needed
  • Collaborate with shipboard medical staff to ensure proper medical protocols and supplies are in place
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local health authorities and medical facilities in ports of call
  • Investigate and report any incidents or outbreaks of illness on board and implement measures to prevent further spread
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all crew members
  • Stay current on industry regulations and best practices related to public health and safety on board vessels

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a public health or occupational health role, preferably in a maritime setting
  • Knowledge of international health regulations and standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel and spend extended periods of time at sea
