About the Opportunity

A growing federal construction services organization is seeking a Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to support design-build infrastructure projects across the Southwestern United States. This individual will serve as the on-site safety leader, ensuring compliance with federal safety requirements while driving a proactive safety culture on high-profile projects.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site SSHO and oversee implementation of the government-approved Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
  • Ensure compliance with Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), EM 385-1-1 requirements, and all contract-specific safety obligations.
  • Partner with Project Management and government stakeholders to achieve project safety objectives.
  • Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training for project personnel.
  • Lead daily safety inspections, audits, and enforcement activities.
  • Perform incident, injury, and near-miss investigations and maintain all required documentation.
  • Develop and maintain Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Deficiency Tracking Systems.
  • Prepare follow-on APPs and AHAs as project activities evolve.
  • Participate in pre-construction, preparatory, and progress meetings.
  • Maintain required safety postings, reference materials, and compliance records on site.
  • Train and oversee project safety representatives as required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
