Summary
Superintendent – Underground Utilities / Electrical - 6 Positions
Charlotte, North Carolina
$105,000 - $130,000 + Bonus + Company Vehicle + Comprehensive Benefits
We’re partnering with a rapidly growing underground utility contractor looking to appoint six experienced Superintendents across local and travelling positions.
With an expanding presence across the Carolinas and Florida, the business specialises in underground electrical and telecommunications infrastructure, delivering projects across commercial, industrial, healthcare, higher education, multifamily and utility sectors, alongside a growing pipeline of data centre work.
Their capabilities include direct-buried and concrete-encased duct banks, underground conduit systems, precast manholes, horizontal directional drilling, cable pulling and site lighting.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced field leader to take ownership of projects within a business that combines specialist equipment, a strong focus on safety and a modern approach to planning, communication and project delivery.
As Superintendent, you’ll lead day-to-day field operations, coordinating crews, subcontractors, equipment and materials to deliver underground utility projects safely, efficiently and on schedule.
As a Superintendent, you will:
- Lead field operations across underground electrical, telecommunications and dry utility projects.
- Oversee trenching, conduit installation, duct banks, manholes and handholes.
- Coordinate related scopes, including equipment pads, directional drilling, cable pulling and site lighting.
- Plan manpower, equipment and materials around project schedules and production targets.
- Manage field crews and subcontractors, setting clear expectations for safety, quality and productivity.
- Coordinate utility locating and excavation around existing infrastructure.
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and installation requirements.
- Monitor progress, identify field issues and resolve challenges before they affect delivery.
- Use construction technology and reporting systems to communicate progress and track performance.
- Maintain strong working relationships with Project Managers, General Contractors, clients and inspectors.
- Drive safe working practices across excavation, trenching and other field activities.
You will ideally bring:
- Superintendent or senior field leadership experience within underground utilities, dry utilities or civil infrastructure.
- A strong background in underground electrical or telecommunications infrastructure.
- Experience delivering conduit, duct bank, trenching and manhole installations.
- Strong crew leadership, construction sequencing and resource planning skills.
- The ability to manage multiple crews and maintain accountability for production.
- Confidence reading construction plans and resolving practical site challenges.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality and communication.
- Comfort using modern construction technology and field reporting tools.
- Directional drilling, site lighting or cable pulling experience would be advantageous.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast for travelling positions.
