Employment Type: Full-Time

About Allied Water Services

Allied Water Services is a growing underground utility and environmental services contractor based in Manteno, Illinois. We specialize in residential, commercial, and municipal sewer, water, septic, drainage, and waterproofing projects throughout the greater Chicagoland area and surrounding communities.

Our work ranges from residential service and system installations to larger commercial and municipal infrastructure projects. We handle everything from excavation and underground utility installation to advanced septic treatment systems, sewer rehabilitation, and drainage solutions.

We've invested heavily in our people, equipment, and operations, and we're continuing to expand our field crews and capabilities.

We're looking for an experienced construction leader who wants to be part of that growth and help us continue building a strong, organized, and productive field operation.

About the Position

We're hiring a Construction Superintendent / Field Operations Supervisor to oversee our field crews and help manage the daily execution of projects.

This isn't a position where you'll simply show up to a jobsite and watch a crew work. We're looking for someone who understands underground construction, can lead people, solve problems, manage resources, and take responsibility for getting projects completed safely, efficiently, and correctly.

You'll work directly with company management, our office staff, and field crews to coordinate schedules, equipment, materials, and jobsite operations.

The right person will be comfortable overseeing multiple active projects while also being willing to get involved in the field when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Crew Management

  • Oversee multiple field crews performing sewer, water, septic, drainage, and excavation projects.
  • Coordinate daily crew assignments, job schedules, equipment, and material needs.
  • Ensure crews have the information, tools, and resources necessary to complete their work.
  • Monitor employee productivity, workmanship, and jobsite performance.
  • Provide leadership, training, and accountability to field employees.

Project Management & Coordination

  • Review project plans, permits, specifications, and scopes of work before construction begins.
  • Coordinate with project managers, municipalities, inspectors, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure jobs remain on schedule and within budget.
  • Identify potential problems before they become costly delays.
  • Assist with material ordering, equipment allocation, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ensure proper job documentation, photos, daily reports, and project updates.

Quality Control & Safety

  • Ensure work meets company standards, approved plans, and applicable codes.
  • Maintain safe jobsites and enforce OSHA requirements, including excavation and trench safety.
  • Verify proper installation practices, elevations, grades, and system functionality.
  • Address jobsite concerns, unexpected conditions, and quality issues promptly.
  • Ensure projects are properly completed, inspected, and ready for closeout.

Operational Performance

  • Help improve crew efficiency, production, and overall job profitability.
  • Monitor labor hours, equipment utilization, and material usage.
  • Work with management to identify opportunities to improve field procedures.
  • Help develop a team that can operate efficiently with clear expectations and accountability.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of construction supervision or crew leadership experience.
  • Strong background in underground utilities, excavation, sewer, water, or septic construction.
  • Experience managing multiple employees and coordinating field operations.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, elevations, permits, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of excavation safety, trench protection, and OSHA requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage changing schedules, multiple jobsites, and unexpected field conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Comfortable using computers, mobile applications, and digital job documentation.

Preferred:

  • Experience with municipal and commercial underground utility projects.
  • Experience with conventional and advanced septic systems.
  • Knowledge of Illinois and local underground utility construction requirements.
  • Experience with project budgeting, production tracking, and cost control.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • CDL is a plus but not required.
