A law firm seeks a Trademark and Advertising Associate to join its New York office. This role involves managing the full lifecycle of brand protection, including trademark prosecution, opposition proceedings, and enforcement. The ideal candidate will advise clients on complex advertising claims, digital media liabilities, and emerging technologies such as AI and virtual worlds, ensuring robust defense of intellectual property rights across borders.

Duties

• Clear and prosecute trademarks, while managing oppositions and cancellations before the TTAB.
• Enforce brand rights through demand letters, domain disputes, takedowns, and federal litigation.
• Advise clients on marketing claims, influencer marketing, and advertising compliance to mitigate liability.
• Counsel on novel issues involving AI-generated content, virtual worlds, and internet liability.
• Develop global strategies to build, police, and defend brands in cross-border matters.

Requirements

• 2-5 years of experience in trademark, copyright, advertising, and internet liability law.
• Experience with contested matters, unsettled law, and boundary-pushing client industries.
• Ability to take real ownership of enforcement and dispute resolution work.
• Superior academic credentials and a strong record of professional achievement.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar admission in New York.
• Admission to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is preferred.
