Tarkik Solutions is seeking a motivated, career-oriented, and customer-focused Technical Lead / Solutions Architect to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP). We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to guide our development team and drive the technical vision for our enterprise applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Java development, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, combined with proven leadership skills and the ability to mentor developers. You will be responsible for making key technical decisions, leading architecture discussions, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions while fostering a collaborative team environment. This role offers the opportunity to shape technical strategy while remaining actively involved in development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field
• 8+ years of professional experience in Java development with proven leadership experience
• Expert-level knowledge of Java and advanced programming concepts
• Extensive experience with Spring Boot framework and Spring ecosystem
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIs and web services
• Deep understanding of microservices architecture, design patterns, and best practices
• Experience leading technical teams and mentoring junior/mid-level developers
• Proven track record of making architectural decisions and technical strategy
• Knowledge of database design, optimization, and ORM frameworks (JPA/Hibernate)
• Experience with cloud platforms, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevOps practices
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders
• Experience with code reviews, technical documentation, and establishing coding standards
• Knowledge of performance optimization and scalability best practices
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Clearance Requirements

• US Citizenship Required - Because of DHS Public Trust requirements, the customer will ONLY accept US Citizens (no Green Cards or professional visas)
• Ability to obtain and hold a DHS Public Trust position and favorable suitability through a component background investigation

Work Location

• This is a hybrid position in Ashburn, VA. One day per week on site.
