The Opportunity
The Lead Analyst, Strategic Analytics is the dedicated analytics partner for a defined set of functional areas of the revenue cycle business. Working side by side with the operations leaders, this role owns the analytic strategy for the portfolio: determining which metrics matter, what is driving them, and why we are over/under performing. The Lead Analyst is a critical thinking partner, with a customer focus and a stakeholder mentality, that is hands on in analysis, development, and aligning functional area resources. They are expected to look beyond the request, challenge assumptions, and find and create value through analysis by influencing operations to apply insights.
This position, with the assistance of functional area resources, is responsible for establishing and maintaining a curated inventory of Strategic Analytics assets for their functional area, ensuring each dashboard, report, and data source has a clear purpose, an identified audience, and a defined owner.
They will work with leaders to identify the key performance indicators (KPIs) that define success, then dig into the operational, financial, and clinical drivers behind them to surface insights that lead to action. The Lead Analyst translates complex data into clear, compelling narratives that equip leaders at every level, from executive reporting to deep-dive analysis, to understand performance and drive change at the responsible party.
Essential Job Functions
- Partnership and Strategic Consultation
Serve as the dedicated Strategic Analytics partner to the assigned functional areas, building a deep understanding of its operations, goals, challenges, reporting resources, and data. Meet regularly with the functional area's operations leader and their team to understand priorities, pressure-test assumptions, and align analytic work to business outcomes. Act as a thought partner who proactively brings ideas, questions, and opportunities to leaders rather than waiting for requests.
- KPI Definition and Driver Analysis
Work with functional leaders to define, document, and maintain the key KPIs for the area, including clear business definitions, targets, and benchmarks. Analyze the underlying drivers of KPI performance (root cause, trends, variances, and contributing factors) and clearly communicate what is moving the metrics and why. Identify and quantify opportunities for improvement, translating analysis into specific, actionable recommendations that support measurable operational and financial impact.
- Portfolio Ownership and Curation
Curate inventory of Strategic Analytics assets for the functional area, including dashboards, reports, and data sources. Regularly evaluate the portfolio for relevance, usage, accuracy, and redundancy, and retire, consolidate, or enhance assets to keep it focused on what drives decisions. Ensure assets follow established design, naming, documentation, and delivery standards. Partner with the Data team to identify, acquire, and validate the data needed for reporting and analytics, and translate functional area priorities into a clear, sequenced reporting and analytics roadmap.
- Data Visualization and Self-Service Development
Help design and develop highly interactive, insightful visualizations and self-service tools in Databricks or Power BI that tell the right story for each audience. Recommend the most effective way to present information, balancing executive-level summary views with deep-dive analytic capability. Create content that moves leaders from information to insight to action. Take an active role in the development, documentation, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise data assets, including KPI definitions and metric standards.
- Mentorship and Team Leadership
Train, coach, and mentor other Strategic Analytics team members in analytic thinking, visualization best practices, and stakeholder engagement. Contribute to team standards, shared practices, and knowledge sharing across functional areas.
