Major Duties Under general supervision, the Coordinator of Advising Services provides comprehensive academic advisement and facilitate student progress. The incumbent coordinates first-year and transfer student programs, liaise with advising hubs, and represent the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communications (MCCAMC) at events and contribute actively to advisement strategies enhancing student transitions and retention through targeted, personalized guidance.
- Provides comprehensive academic advisements for all students assigned to MCCAMC Student Resource Center/EOP.
- Initiates and maintains caseload records and documents student contacts.
- Assists the DCA with the coordination, planning, and implementation of first-year advisement.
- Represents the SRC/EOP satellite and MCCAMC at on and off-campus events.
- Serves as the primary liaison with the Hub for International and Exploratory students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field. Upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related, is preferred.
- Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience; including one year in first-year and transfer student transitions, preferred.
- A Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities - Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven organizational and record-keeping capabilities.
- Proficiency with advisement software (SOLAR/PeopleSoft, EAB).
- Ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic educational environment.
- Competence in coordinating large-scale events and workshops.
- Commitment to supporting diverse student populations.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule - The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver and more.
- Classification: SSP III / 3084 / grade 1
- The anticipated HIRING RATE is $5540. The salary range for this classification is: $5540 - $7893 per month.
- HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
- This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
- The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
