Job Summary Salary: Generator Technician I: $21.41-$27.305 Generator Technician II: $22.61 -$28.83 Generator Technician III: $23.88 -$30.45 Performs a variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance, repair, and modification of natural gas and diesel fired electric generating power plant and related equipment. Work includes servicing, repairing, and maintaining natural gas and diesel engine driven electric generators and related equipment. Work assignments are received orally and in writing and may be accompanied by sketches and diagrams. Work is performed with considerable independence within established policies, procedures, and technical guidelines. Work is reviewed by the Trades Maintenance Chief through conferences, reports, and results obtained.
Minimum Qualifications:
Generator Technician I: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and one (1) year of experience in repair, operation, and maintenance of various types of diesel, gasoline, natural gas, and propane-fueled generator sets or similar equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
Generator Technician II: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and two (2) years’ experience in repair, operation, and maintenance of various types of diesel, gasoline, natural gas, and propane-fueled generator sets or similar equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License required.
Generator Technician III: High School Diploma/G.E.D. Certificate and four (4) years experience in repair, operation, and maintenance of various types of diesel, gasoline, natural gas and propane fueled generator sets or similar equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Valid Florida Class E Driver's License is required.
Additional Qualifications for Promotion:Promotions are not to be considered an automatic function of longevity and are subject to the review and authorization of the Supervisor. The employee’s last performance review must have resulted in an overall rating of Meets standards or better with no factor rating of less than meets.
