    Position Duties

    The Maintenance Manager position is a job opportunity for a dynamic individual with a proven track record in facilities management within a campus environment, who enjoys and excels at leading, communicating and interacting with diverse staff while providing sophisticated building management administration skills. This position is located in the Facilities and Engineering Division of the Airport Department for the City of San Jose that is responsible for 24x7 coverage to meet the business needs of our business partners.

    Under the direction of the Building Management Administrator the Maintenance Manager position is responsible for performing work of considerable difficulty including planning, organizing, and directing the Airport's comprehensive building, airfield, and grounds management programs. This position is key in providing oversight on the day-to-day operations, management of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and management of resources including staff and required materials. This position will supervise several maintenance supervisors and other maintenance staff.

    The final candidate’s qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay, which is included in the range below.

    The Maintenance Manager salary range is $145,502.50 - $182,345.54 annually.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    Any combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, engineering, or other related field and six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance of public infrastructure features such as landscaping, sewers, streets, traffic control or related areas, including two (2) years of supervision experience at a level equivalent to Maintenance Superintendent with the City of San Jose.

    Acceptable Substitution

    Additional experience in maintenance of public infrastructure features such as landscaping, sewers, streets, traffic control or related areas may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree requirement on a year-for- year basis. There is no substitution for the two (2) years of supervision experience at a level equivalent to Maintenance Superintendent with the City of San Jose.

    Required Licensing (such as driver’s license, certifications, etc.)

    Possession of a valid State of California driver's license may be required for some assignments.

This Airport position requires a background check and a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) check. The candidate must be fingerprinted and qualify under all applicable TSA and Airport regulations.
