    Under general supervision, the Director of Basketball Operations, WBB, assists the Head Women’s Basketball Coach in all phases of planning, developing, and promoting a highly competitive Division I intercollegiate men’s basketball program which include but not limited to:

    Team Travel and Logistics: Planning and coordinating all aspects of team travel, including transportation, lodging, meals, and itineraries.
    • Budget Management: Overseeing team budget activity, potentially in collaboration with the Athletics Business Office.
    • Scheduling: Scheduling team practices, workouts, and maintaining communication through systems like ARMS.
    • Recruiting Support: Coordinating logistics for recruiting visits, player housing, and NCAA compliance documentation.
    • Liaison Role: Acting as a liaison to various campus and department units.
    • Team Support: Supporting team branding, community relations, equipment orders, training meals, and donor events.
    • Staff Oversight: Providing oversight of student support staff like clerical assistants and managers.
    • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA by-laws and regulations.
    • Academic Oversight: Potentially overseeing academics for student-athletes.
    • Event Coordination, Camps, Game day operations and Fundraising.
    • The Director of Basketball Operations will perform other duties as assigned


    The Director of Operations assists by providing leadership and integrity to the program set forth by the Head Coach which includes, but is not limited to: creating, planning, organizing, motivating, communicating and controlling aspects relative to recruiting, practices, competitions, student-athletes, assistant coaches, and related booster clubs. The Director of Operations is expected to conduct themselves in a manner representative of the University, the Department, and the sport both on and off the field of competition. The Director of Operations is expected to be knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport; as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.

    The Director of Basketball Operations will collaborate with and act as a liaison with other administrative areas (i.e., Athletics Business Office, Admissions and Records, Athletics Compliance, Facilities, Athletics Marketing, Matador Achievement Center, Sports Media, Athletic Performance, Athletic Development, Sports Medicine, etc.) to ensure Head Coach and program objectives are accomplished through any required administrative processes.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution; OR
    • Minimum of one (1) year of: demonstrated coaching and/or recruiting experience; and/or professional league playing experience; and/or experience which would provide adequate training to coach at the Division I collegiate level. Outstanding problem-solving skills, an ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions in a dynamic setting, and an effective listener.
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Must be proficient in the use of basic computer applications.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks within demanding timeframes.
    • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • (3) or more years in administrative work
    • Master’s degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
    • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain outstanding student-athletes.
    • Knowledge of the Big West Conference


    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Knowledgeable about and comply with NCAA regulatory policy governing their sport; as well as NCAA and conference policies governing recruiting, eligibility, ethical standards, playing seasons, and extra benefits.
    • Demonstrated ability to recruit and retain outstanding student-athletes. Demonstrate a commitment and ability to teach, mentor and work with a diverse student population.
    • Ability and specialized skills to: analyze problems; propose effective solutions; understand functional and procedural requirements; analyze problems and propose effective solution; understand functional and procedural requirements and develop alternative solutions; relate solutions to management, technical staff, and users.
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; make presentations; conduct meetings; provide user training; and prepare programming and user documentation


    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

    • Classification: Coaching Assistant / 2382 / 0
    • The anticipated HIRING RATE is: $6288 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $6288 - $7658 per month.
    • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
    • This is a Temporary position; end date to be determined.
    • The individual hired for this role will physically work on-campus in Northridge. This is not a telecommute position.
