    About the Fellowship Program:
    The Jefferson County Innovation Fellowship is a 1-2-year program that equips aspiring innovators with the skills to transform government services through new technologies and solutions. It is a full-time role with a salary and limited medical benefits that can act as a launch pad for a career in civic innovation and technology.     About the Position:
    Do you enjoy helping others work smarter? Are you passionate about the practical use of technology to simplify workflows and improve day-to-day tasks? Join the Innovation Team as our Innovation Fellow (Tech and Productivity). In this role, you will lead the creation of a new service line within the Jeffco Innovation Lab, focused on equipping everyday employees with practical, approachable ways to use technology in their work. You will be responsible for building this offering from the ground up, shaping content, delivery methods, and feedback loops in collaboration with the Innovation Lab Coordinator. As part of this work, you will design and deliver hands-on learning opportunities, including workshops , lunch-and-learns, and one-on-one consultations, to help Jefferson County employees improve productivity through tools like Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot, and other digital solutions. You will also support other Innovation Lab activities, such as planning, facilitating , or documenting process improvement sessions, human-centered design workshops, and other engagements that strengthen our culture of innovation.

    In addition, you will serve as a liaison between the Innovation Lab and the Emerging Technology Team. This includes aligning learning opportunities with broader technology adoption efforts and helping translate exploratory tech projects into accessible, people-centered resources and offerings.

    Professional Development
    The Jefferson County Innovation Fellowship program is designed to provide talented individuals with an opportunity to gain practical and diverse real-world experience in government innovation. Fellows will learn about the inner workings of county government and make a difference in the community through meaningful projects. Fellows will interact with senior leaders, attend high level meetings, and will be exposed to the responsibilities and challenges of multiple departments.

    Additionally, Fellows can expect:

    SCHEDULE:

    This position operates on our four-day work week (Monday-Thursday) however, with approval from supervisor , employees are allowed to work a 5-day work week if preferred.

    This limited position is hybrid, with remote work and in-office work as determined by business need

    COMPENSATION:

    Hiring Range: $29-$33 USD Hourly

    Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    The Innovation Fellow (Tech and Productivity) will:

    Design and Deliver the Tech and Productivity Service Line
    • Develop and facilitate hands-on learning sessions, including workshops, lunch- and-learns, and one-on-one support, with a focus on tools like Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot, and other digital productivity platforms.


    • Collaborate with the Innovation Lab Coordinator to shape content and delivery strategies.


    • Continuously refine offerings based on employee feedback and evolving needs.


    Support Jeffco Innovation Lab Activities

    • Assist with process improvement and human-centered design workshops.


    • Help coordinate logistics , communications, and documentation.


    • Participate in events such as the Technology Showcase by leading relevant sessions.


    Liaise with the Emerging Technology Team

    • Serve as a bridge between the Emerging Technology Team and the Innovation Lab.


    • Ensure learning opportunities align with countywide technology adoption efforts and strategic pilots.


    • Incorporate insights from exploratory tech work into employee-focused content.


    Approximate allocation of activities:

    • Tech and Productivity Service Line: 55-65%


    • Innovation Lab Activities: 25-35%


    • Emerging Tech Team Liaison and Collaboration: 5%


    • Other Team Support: 5-10%


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

    *Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.

    Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities :

    • Interest in technology that empowers people-not just tech for tech’s sake.


    • Experience facilitating workshops or coaching others.


    • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools and automation platforms.


    • S t rong written and verbal communication skills.


    • A collaborative mindset with comfort working across departments.


    • Experience designing learning content or delivering workshops.


    • Exposure to digital tools for productivity, such as Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot, or task automation tools.


    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex organization.


    • Experience analyzing business processes, programs, and policies, and creating recommendations for improvement.
