We are seeking a detail-oriented professional to coordinate and oversee maintenance programs and projects for the City of Austin/Austin Energy. This role is responsible for scheduling preventative and corrective activities, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance with City and regulatory standards. The position involves planning projects by determining staffing and equipment needs, administering the on-call program, preparing work order schedules, and tracking project progress. You will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors on designs, communicate project information to internal and external stakeholders, and support procurement for maintenance programs. This role plays a key part in maintaining and improving performance standards for our maintenance and project operations.
Job Description:Scheduler Analyst
Purpose:
Under general supervision, this position performs and manages tasks to assist engineering or management on project or workforce planning and scheduling.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates and schedules field construction and maintenance projects. Coordinates and reviews construction- or engineering-related contracts and contract documents.
- Measures work performances against engineering work standards to develop, maintain, and improve City of Austin design and construction standards.
- Tracks status of projects, and reports to management.
- Plans projects by determining crew size and composition, work hour requirements, and equipment requirements.
- Prepares work order schedules, control records, and post schedules.
- Communicates project and/or program information to internal and external customers.
- Ensures compliance with City and other regulatory agency requirements and policies.
- Meets with project managers, engineers, and contractors to discuss designs.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:
May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluations, training, and guidance to others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of construction projects common to utilities.
- Knowledge of workforce requirements and work output for field construction crews.
- Knowledge of equipment and construction techniques common to utility construction practices.
- Skill in reviewing and summarizing project status reports.
- Skill in maintaining records of project phase.
- Skill in scheduling workforce.
Minimum Qualifications:
For Austin Energy:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in a field related to electric utility line or power plant construction and maintenance.
OR
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in construction or maintenance activities, including three (3) years of which were in the planning, coordination, and scheduling of utility construction projects.
For Austin Water:- Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus 3 years of experience in coordination and scheduling of utility infrastructure projects.
- Education may substitute for experience up to two (2) years.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience scheduling technical crews
- Experience operating Maximo Computerized Maintenance Management System
- Experience working with government purchasing processes.
- Polished written and verbal communication.
- Experience presenting complex information to audiences of varying technical knowledge
- Ability to work a flexible schedule (24/7).
- Ability to travel to multiple locations.
