Job Description:Purpose:Under minimal direction, this position directs, manages, and coordinates all maintenance operations of facilities, buildings, and equipment at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Manages the operations and maintenance of City-owned facilities and properties to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Oversees maintenance activities to ensure efficient, safe, and effective airport operations, airport safety, terminal and passenger services, emergency management, and general aviation operations. Coordinates with AUS tenants on operational, equipment, and system safety matters.
- Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned service areas, programs, and operations related to AUS maintenance; and recommends and administers policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; and recommends appropriate service and staffing levels.
- Represents the department in board and commission meetings on matters related to maintenance operations. Monitors and ensures division is compliant with all governmental regulations, ordinances, directives and City practices, policies, and procedures.
- Develops and administers the annual budget; participates in the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; and implements adjustments. Develops and monitors operations, maintenance, and capital budgets; and responds to deviations from cost or timeline projections.
- Oversees the activities for safety programs for assigned sections and work groups and oversees the planning for safety programs and activities; and ensures compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
- Oversees and participates in providing customer service to internal and external customers; and responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive customer inquiries and complaints.
- Implements programs and assists management with developing strategic initiatives to accomplish AUS goals. Directs the analysis of system and equipment operations to develop plans for operational enhancements.
- Prepares and reviews reports as part of the process of monitoring and communicating performance results.
Responsibilities - Supervisor and/or Leadership Exercised:Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities, including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Knowledge of all governmental regulations such as Transportation Security Administration (TSA), EPA, TNRCC, OSHA, FAA, TCEQ, NEC, FDA, TDLR, and other guidelines governing the regulations addressing the operation/maintenance and upkeep of commercial airports.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of management necessary to plan, organize, implement, analyze, and evaluate the maintenance and operational activities of an international airport.
- Knowledge of principles of personnel administration and management development including selection, training, and supervision of management staff.
- Knowledge of methods and techniques involved in conducting analytical studies of maintenance and management practices, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of legislative processes of the county, State, and Federal governments.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of airport and land use planning, construction, and government planning in urban and metropolitan areas.
- Knowledge of procedures and processes of public sector budget preparation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of principles of airport operations commonly used at both air carrier and general aviation airports.
- Knowledge of fiscal planning and budget preparation.
- Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
- Knowledge of supervisory and managerial techniques, methods, and principles.
- Knowledge of municipal asset utilization and regulatory and legislative issues.

Minimum Qualifications:- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Aviation Management, Transportation, Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, or in a field related to the job, plus eight (8) years of experience in airport management at a commercial service airport involving airport operations, facility or systems maintenance, safety, or security, including four (4) years of experience which were in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education up to a maximum of four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience being responsible with Airport Systems Maintenance, Budgeting and Operations.
- Experience being responsible for Baggage Handling Systems & Passenger Boarding Bridge Systems.
- Advance Knowledge of SCADA Systems Data Analytics and Computer Maintenance Management Systems and other types of maintenance management software.
- Experience with Contract Development & Management

- Manages the Operations & Maintenance of the Baggage Handling & Passenger Boarding Bridge Systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations.
- Oversees maintenance actives to ensure safe and efficient airport operations, airport safety, terminal and passenger services, emergency management and general aviation operations.
- Coordinates with airport tenants on operational, safety, and system safety matters.
- Ensures division and airport is complaint with governmental regulations, ordinance, and directives.
- Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for assigned services areas, programs and operations related to AUS maintenance; and recommends and administers policies and procedures.
- Monitors and evaluates services delivery methods, including managing staffing levels, developing and managing annual budget and funding forecast.
- Act as the primary point of contact for maintenance related issues including board and commission meetings.
Salary Range: $48.38-62.90
Driving Requirement:This position requires a
