Vacation & Sick Leave At the City of Buckeye, we understand the vital role that vacation time plays in supporting the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our employees. Vacation and sick leave accruals begin on the first day of employment and may be used upon accrual. Additionally,
employees receive credit towards vacation leave accruals for years of service with other public sector retirement systems nationwide (not including Federal service). Holidays The City of Buckeye observes eleven holidays per year: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
Retirement This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contribution is mandatory, and the current contribution rate is 12%, per fiscal year.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesHiring Range: $36.34 - $45.41Salary range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.Hiring range is an estimate of the compensation amount for the selected candidate. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and equity amongst other City employees in a similar position.GENERAL PURPOSE: Under general supervision, performs a variety of professional, technical and administrative activities to support the functions of the assigned Department; manages special projects and assists with program management; duties may vary according to work assignment.

- Collects financial, technical and administrative information and compiles data for reports; updates and corrects operational and statistical database; prepares and submits financial and technical reports as required.
- Manages special projects as directed; conducts research, collects and consolidates data, and compiles findings; validates and analyzes data, and recommends solutions.
- Analyzes trends, market data and issues; investigates and resolves concerns and problems.
- Coordinates information and assures effective communications between departments; clarifies and reconciles issues relating to department functions, budgets and procedures.
- Resolves problems and customer service inquiries within scope of authority; provides advice and assistance to customers and external agencies.
- Composes correspondence and other documents on a wide variety of subjects requiring knowledge of the programs, services and policies of the assigned Department; creates, develops and processes technical documents and other communications.
- Provides and explains technical and financial information to customers, external agencies and City staff and management.
- Maintains calendars, schedules meetings and appointments; prioritizes and resolves complex meeting schedules; prepares meeting agendas and presentation materials; takes and transcribes meeting minutes, and prepares summaries as required.
- Performs and coordinates a wide range of technical, analytical, and administrative duties.
- May supervise and review the work of office staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications & Position RequirementsEducation and Experience: - Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, and two (2) years' experience in project management and administrative support, including one (1) year of public sector experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Desired experience working with police budgets, government procurement procedures, Telestaff (payroll), and the Department of Justice Equitable Sharing Program - seizures and forfeitures.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:- City policies and procedures.
- Project management principles and techniques.
- Research methods and technical report writing.
- Principles and practices of accounting, statistical analysis and budgets.
- Principles and practices of record keeping and records management.

- Entering data and understanding National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS).
Ability to: - Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of work.
12-Month Goals:- Create a training matrix for all records staff, covering onboarding, annual refreshers, and advanced development.
- Ensure staff receive training on records retention, public records requests, redaction, privacy laws, and system usage.
- Ensure records practices align with Arizona law, city policy, and CJIS standards.
- Standardize processes for retention, release, and destruction of records.
- Monitor legal updates and implement changes promptly.
- Join and actively participate in the Arizona Law Enforcement Records Managers Association (AZLERMA).
Additional InformationSpecial Requirements: Must successfully pass a pre-employment screening to include a comprehensive background investigation, drug test, polygraph, and psychological exam.
