here .EXAMPLES OF DUTIESUnder direction, conducts moderately difficult and complex studies and investigations pertaining to ecological and environmental aspects of proposed programs and projects in order to eliminate or minimize pollution of air, land, and water from any source; collects and analyzes information and data, and prepares reports and recommendations on a wide variety of matters concerning the environment; prepares environmental reports; analyzes proposed legislation and regulations to determine their effect on the Port and/or City; may represent the Port and/or City before hearings on environmental matters with other public agencies and private interests; and performs other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE- A bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Environmental Engineering, Marine Biology, Biology, Geography or Physical Science, Geology or Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, or a closely related field (proof required)*.
-AND- - Three years of paid, full-time equivalent experience in environmental analysis or environmental programs such as: Environmental Documentation, Air Quality, Water Quality, Environmental Remediation, Energy, and/or Sustainability.
- A master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Marine Biology, Biology, Geography or Physical Science, Geology or Hydrogeology, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to one year of the required experience (proof required)*.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends and/or holiday hours.
- Skilled and proficient with personal computers and the use of computer software.
A valid driver's license must be submitted to the hiring department at the time of the selection.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Stormwater Quality, California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), air quality, or environmental remediation.

Screening of applicants will be conducted on the basis of application and required supplemental application submitted. This selection procedure will be conducted using a non-competitive process, which means applications are evaluated solely on training, experience, education, or certification. All applicants meeting minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligible list. Applicants receiving Veteran’s Credit will be placed on the eligible list first and then in the order in which applications were filed. The resulting eligible list remain in effect for at least
one year. Based on the number of applications accepted, the selection procedure may be changed. In the event a revision is necessary, the affected persons will be notified.
