Law and Justice Research Analystto coordinate and perform critical data analysis to inform decision-making that will help improve criminal justice programs within the department and guide the development, integration and implementation of long and short-range plans to support the operations of the department. The Law and Justice Research Analyst will conduct analytical studies of administrative and operational activities; develop recommendations for appropriate actions based on analysis of gathered data; present reports of findings; review legislative changes impacting departmental operations; and contribute to the development of legislative recommendations.
Essential duties will include:- Preparing statistical reports bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually and/or as requested for dissemination internally and externally (e.g., DOJ, Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), the Courts, etc).
- Analyzing and interpreting data, coordinating programs based on research and recommending a course of action.
- Preparing oral and written presentations and documents of study results and recommendations to assist management in making informed administrative and operational decisions.
- Developing informational bulletins to report and monthly, quarterly, and annual corrections statistics.
- Managing incident/booking reports and tracking average daily population.

Minimum Requirements EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience performing analytical duties as a primary job function in any of the following areas: organizational operations and programs, data/statistical analysis and reporting, quantitative and qualitative analysis, fiscal analysis, contracts/grants administration or management.
-AND- EDUCATION: An Associate degree in political science, behavioral/social science, data analytics, accounting/finance, public/business administration or other relevant field of study. (This information should be clearly indicated in the Education section of the Application.)
SUBSTITUTION: Two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may substitute for the required education.
Desired QualificationsThe Ideal candidate profile: - Conduct and interpret the results of multivariate analysis using statistical methods.
- Experience developing and presenting ideas and deliverables to internal teams and leadership.
- Possess strong research and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Experience in a law enforcement environment.
- Experience utilizing applications such as Excel, JIMS, Visio Diagramming Software, Tiburon or equivalent Computer Aided Dispatch Software.
