This position will be located at the Missouri Geological Survey,
111 Fairgrounds Rd., Rolla MO 65401. Regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with occasional field work and overnight travel.
- Oversee operations of the Well Installation Section and the implementation of the Water Well Drillers Act (256.600-256.640, RSMo), the State Oil and Gas Council (Chapter 259, RSMo), and accompanying regulations.
- Directly supervise 3 Unit Supervisors and 1 Environmental Program Specialist and associated workload, training, and development.
- Provide leadership to a team of 15 and support their professional development.
- Provide support, guidance, and quality assurance/quality control for fiscal components and deliverables for a variety of funding sources including fee funds and grants.
- Supervise, motivate and manage employee performance through coaching, team building, and delegation.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with other managers, supervisors, and section team members.
- Partner and communicate regularly with stakeholders including public, industry, state, and federal agencies to accomplish goals.
- Serve as staff coordinator to the Well Installation Board and State Oil and Gas Council.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including: U.S. Department of Interior, Division of Environmental Quality programs, academic and industry partners, and others.

Equivalent to those typically gained by: - Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in geology or closely related field and a minimum of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of credit in geology and a minimum 6 or more years of relevant experience.

AND
- Familiarity with grants, project management, and budgets.
- Familiarity with well construction, oil and gas production, and geology.
- Training, certification, and/or education in continuous process improvement programs such as Lean Six Sigma as well as completion of Missouri Way, Leadership Academy, and similar programs is preferred.
