The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Child Care Worker 1 located in Henderson working within the Early Childhood Mental Health Services Day Treatment Program. The Child Care Worker plays a key role in supporting young children, ages 3 to 6, who are also receiving family therapy services. Rooted in Conscious Discipline practices, this role emphasizes connection, safety, and co-regulation to create a healing-centered environment both during transport and in the classroom. This position includes traveling with children and a transportation service driver, maintaining a sense of felt safety and connection for each child. The Child Care Worker will offer positive intent and compassionate guidance, using supportive language and visuals to help children identify and express their emotions, make safe choices, and build the skills necessary for self-regulation. The key responsibilities are establishing and maintaining a safe, connected, and predictable environment while traveling with children and adults, both indoors and outdoors. Co-regulate with children, offering calm and empathetic responses to dysregulation while modeling emotional regulation strategies. Providing a developmentally appropriate choice and teaching problem-solving skills, guiding children toward helpful behaviors through empathy and connection. Candidate will be required to obtain CPR certification. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience working with small children in a preschool setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. A valid drivers license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
