    Essential Job Functions

    Duties will include, but are not limited to:

    Processes library materials for customers, including check-in and check-out procedures.

    Registers new customers (borrowers) in accordance with established specialized protocols.

    Explains and enforces library policies and procedures.

    Provides information and answer questions from the public regarding library rules, including fines, fees, and material location, etc.

    Operates office equipment, including computers and performs other incidental duties in a small office setting.

    Assists in shelving and moving materials.

    Prepares and processes outgoing and incoming delivery shipments as vital, including packing and unpacking.

    Provides support for various tasks and special projects, as needed.

    Requirements

    Requirements to Qualify: Three (3) months' experience in a public customer-facing role, such as sales, food service, reception, or a similar position involving direct interaction in person, by phone, or online.

    Age: At least 18 years of age.

    Physical Class III - Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

    Desirable Qualifications:
    • Successful completion of one or more accredited college or university* course(s) in Library Technology or Library Science.
    • Experience supporting the daily operations of a public library** by performing tasks such as sorting & arranging books and other materials; serving library customers; maintaining supplies; inspecting books and materials for cleanliness and/or repairs; setting up library premises for special events, programs, and meetings; assisting with facility opening and closing procedures; maintaining the overall orderliness of library facilities.

    Additional Information

    Our Assessment Process: This assessment will consist of a Training & Experience (T&E) evaluation, weighted 100%, which reviews your education and experience. As part of your application, you will be asked questions related to the assessment in the supplemental questionnaire section. We will evaluate you based on your responses to the questionnaire.

    Eligibility Information: A standardized scoring system is used to assign scores for the assessment. The passing score is 70%. Candidates who pass are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months.

    SPECIAL INFORMATION

    Available Shift: This position offers a flexible schedule with a minimum of 20 hours per week, typically in shifts of 4 hours, which may include evenings, nights, and weekends.
