The Position Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This is a 3 month duration seasonal status position within the Habitat Division focused on Water Development. Position will conduct guzzler maintenance, construction, and new builds. Position will work in Las Vegas, on a schedule of 10-hour days in the field. Camping at remove locations is required on workdays. The position involves use of various construction equipment, power tools, lifting heavy materials, etc. Employee must be familiar with water and wildlife management and be capable of hiking 10 miles a day with a 50 lb pack. Position requires a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school and one year of experience in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects such as assisting with creel census, surveys, identifying fish and wildlife species, vegetation management or similar work; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Work may be performed under adverse weather conditions and include extensive walking under difficult conditions, camping in remote, primitive locations. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
