The Position Grounds Maintenance Workers perform landscape, garden and greenhouse duties such as planting, pruning, mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weeding and snow and ice prevention and removal; and operate hand and power tools, power mowers, tractor mowers, trenching devices, forklifts and hoists.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Nevada State Railroad Museum in Boulder City is seeking to fill a Grounds Maintenance Worker 3 position. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for maintaining the museum's outdoor areas, including five miles of railroad right-of-way. This includes landscaping across the campus and ensuring the right-of-way remains clear and safe. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) One year of experience performing grounds maintenance work using a variety of tools, equipment and techniques; OR six months of experience as a Grounds Maintenance Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Applicants must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview.
