    The Position

    Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain networks and monitor and maintain help desk user support or mainframe and server operations.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: IT is recruiting for an IT Technician 4, located in Carson City, NV. Information Technology (IT) Technicians install, configure, monitor, and maintain user desktops and software support. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position maintains knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in the installation, maintenance, and support of the agency desktop environment; Help Desk response for support and maintenance of application and system problems to WAN/LAN users; upgrades and installs software and/or hardware on networked desktop systems statewide; monitoring and management of advanced/specialized agency software and inventory.

    As a PBH Division employee, incumbents are expected to be available for call-back during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this position or to perform other duties as requested associated with a response role. This may entail working a non-traditional work schedule or at another duty station during the incident and/or emergency. PBH Computer and Software Inventory: Follow the inventory processes and procedures for new equipment, moved equipment, and retire/excess equipment per procedures outlined in the OIT Wiki. While assisting users will review the inventory information in DPBH Inventory Management Software is accurate for the PBH computer/laptop/tablet ensuring device is assigned to the appropriate PBH user, BA Code, and location. PBH Network Account Administration: Perform PBH and DHHS-DO user maintenance in Active Directory and Office 365 insuring new and terminating employee accounts are managed by processes and procedures outlined in OIT Wiki.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years of experience utilizing the fundamentals of typical computer systems, operating systems, applications, and peripherals, three years of which must have included IT work experience in a user support role; OR (for positions in the Network Operations & Support specialty ONLY) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of IT work experience in the upgrade or replacement of software and hardware components on networked workstations; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
