The Position Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) is recruiting for a Psychiatric Caseworker 2 located in Las Vegas, NV. This role provides case management for individuals with serious mental health and substance use challenges. Responsibilities include assessing clients, developing and monitoring treatment plans, coordinating services, and conducting crisis intervention and home visits. Caseworkers work in teams to coordinate care, make referrals, and support clients and families with issues related to mental health, development, and daily living. They conduct interviews for program placement, write evaluations, attend multidisciplinary meetings, and ensure follow-up care. Additional duties include educating clients and families, coordinating housing and discharge plans, documenting services, and arranging transportation to appointments and community resources. The goal is to support recovery, reduce hospital readmissions, and ensure quality care. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level. Special Notes As part of the hiring process, applicants for positions in the Nevada System of Higher Education may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform job-related tasks. Special Requirements Working evenings, weekends, and/or holidays is required and is a condition of continuing employment.
