For additional information review the Benefits Summary for the General Fire Support Unit . CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Background Check: Incumbents must successfully complete a background check and medical exam prior to appointment.
Working Conditions: Applicants must be able to perform heavy manual labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions; work in desert and mountainous areas, remote locations, and other locations as needed; have the ability to drive in all weather conditions; and work weekends and holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance and repair requests as needed. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and have the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend over, and crawl for extended periods in the performance of job duties for this position.
Health and Physical: Persons seeking appointment to this class must meet the health and physical condition standards deemed necessary and proper for performance of the duties established by the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District.
Availability: Incumbents may be required to work weekends and holidays, and respond to emergency maintenance and repair requests as needed.
Travel: Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
Location: Positions report to the San Bernardino Headquarters, CA. Incumbents may be required to report to other locations for work to meet department needs.

Minimum RequirementsExperience: Four (4) years of full-time journey level experience performing maintenance and repair of buildings in at least one (1) of the following trades: electrical, plumbing, heating/ventilation/air conditioning (HVAC), or carpentry.
Desired QualificationsThe desired candidate will possess experience in multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and carpentry, along with comprehensive working knowledge of all aspects of construction maintenance and repair.
