    Job Announcement

    The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Assistant for rentals at the Tumbleweed Recreation Center(part-time, temporary, non-benefited). This position serves at the discretion of the department director. Scheduled hours vary, mainly from Friday through Sunday, ranging from as early as 6:00 a.m. to as late as 2:00 a.m., with an emphasis on availability on Fridays and Sundays.

    Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

    Who we are looking for

    Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking a candidate with experience working in a team environment, skilled in setting up and breaking down events or facilities, and capable of working independently. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: room setup and cleanup; educating renters and facility guests about policies and enforcing them; assisting renters with AV and technical issues; maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of the facility and equipment; reporting any issues to supervisors; supporting Guest Services; and preparing materials for programs such as crafts and equipment. The Recreation Assistant will also provide support for other programs, including the birthday party program, complete assigned task lists, and assist with ad-hoc duties as needed. Additionally, the Recreation Assistant will be responsible for opening and closing the facility for renters at the start and end of rental periods, ensuring the facility is empty and secure.

    Minimum qualifications

    • Some High School; and

    • 1 year of experience in a recreation environment; and

    • A First Aide/CPR Certification is required within 90 days of employment; and

    • A valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; or

    • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

    The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

    Applicants for employment and volunteer opportunities should be aware of the City of Chandler’s policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the city’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. Certain positions within the city are required to be submitted to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or volunteer opportunity. The examination process may vary if determined necessary.
