    Full-time position available with the Aviation Department, Airport Operations Division, located at 1 Kansas City Blvd.
    Starting Salary: $22.52/hr
    Normal Work Days/Hours: Four 10-hour shifts/week with shifts rotating monthly and availability during emergencies or inclement weather.

    Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Patrols airfield runways, taxiways, and aprons to ensure compliance.
    • Inspects for hazards like malfunctioning lights, non-compliant pavement markings, foreign object debris (FOD), broken pavement, and fuel or oil spills, as well as ice or snow on the airfield. Prepares self-inspection reports and generate work requests.
    • Monitors the airfield for wildlife, employing harassment techniques to disperse potential threats, and safely remove any deceased wildlife from the movement areas.
    • Conducts thorough perimeter inspections to confirm that the fence lines and posts are secure, supporting our airport security program.
    • Inspects fuel farms, fueling equipment, and operations to ensure adherence to standards.
    • Staffs the snow desk during winter weather events, support the snow and ice control plan, and issue NOTAMs as needed.
    • Explains airport rules and regulations to pilots, tenants, and employees, and issue AOA violations when necessary.
    • Conducts Security Identification Display Area (SIDA), Movement and Non-Movement training, and Movement area practical exams.
    • Performs inspections of terminal and landside areas. Respond to incidents while monitoring traffic and liability issues.
    • Executes additional tasks assigned by Aviation Managers or Airport Operations Agents on duty.

    The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
    For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.
    Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

    If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
