    Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Division of Water Resources
    The mission of the Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) is to responsibly manage Nevada's limited
    water resources in accordance with State law and best available science.

    NDWR is dedicated to actively managing water resources for the benefit of Nevada citizens in a way that
    protects the resource for long-term sustainability, and to provide the public access to information, assistance
    and exemplary service in performing the duties and responsibilities of the Division.

    The Southern Nevada Branch office is responsible for effective
    oversight and management of the water resources in Southern Nevada.

    This field office does this by assisting with the following duties: day to
    day public assistance, reviewing subdivision maps, completing
    pumpage inventories, well drilling supervision and licensing,
    conducting field investigations, collecting water measurements and
    represents the State Engineer at meetings, hearings and other events.

    The Nevada Division of Water Resources (NDWR) is
    seeking a dynamic, strategic, and proven leader looking to
    be a part of defining the future of water resources in
    Southern Nevada. The ideal candidate would bring a strong
    foundation of Nevada's water resources, organization
    development, build strong relationships with diverse group
    of stakeholders and has a deep commitment to public
    service.

    This position is under the direction of the State Engineer and
    Deputy Administrators of the Division of Water Resources and
    is located within the Southern Nevada Branch Office in Las
    Vegas. Chief is responsible for the direct supervision of seven
    (7) staff which include non-classified and classified positions
    and provides oversight on the duties within the Southern
    Nevada Branch Office. These duties include but are not limited
    to public assistance, subdivision map review, pumpage
    inventories, well drilling supervision and licensing,
    cancellation hearings, field investigation, water budget, water
    measurements and performing other duties as assigned by the
    State Engineer and Deputy Administrators. Additionally, this
    position will represent the Division at meetings, hearings,
    conferences and other events on behalf of the State Engineer.

    A master's degree from an accredited college or university in conservation, engineering,
    environmental or natural resource management, geography, geology, hydrology, hydro
    geology, water resource management, or a closely related field and five years of professional
    experience developing, implementing, and overseeing programs in these areas, including
    two years in a supervisory capacity; or a bachelor's degree in one of the above fields and six
    years of related professional experience, including two years in a supervisory capacity; or an
    equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

    Preferred skills for this
    position include a knowledge
    of Nevada water laws and
    regulations, experience
    conducting surface water flow
    and groundwater level
    measurements, and
    proficiency in Excel. Also
    preferred is work experience
    in Southern Nevada
    groundwater basins and an
    understanding of Nevada well
    drilling laws and regulations.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
