The Position Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
The Governor's Finance Office is recruiting for an Executive Branch Economist geographically located in Carson City, Nevada. The position conducts research and analysis of economic, social, industrial and employment factors in order to identify trends and implications on the State; forecasts and tracks diverse state tax revenues and researches how other changes might affect revenues; prepares in-depth reports of statistical and economic data; presents findings and recommendations to the Governor and his staff, the Finance Director and Deputies and presents and defends revenue forecasts to the state's Economic Forum; and assist the Director of the Governor's Finance Office with data collection for various meetings within the Executive Branch. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Master's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, econometrics, statistics or related field and three years of professional experience which included economic research, model building, forecasting, fiscal and trend analysis and interpretation and the development of presentations, reports and recommendations. This experience must have involved the application of advanced statistical mathematical and economic principles and research modeling; OR two years of experience as an Economist III in Nevada State service performing duties as described above; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Requirements A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Additional Position Criteria This position is subject to flexible/rotating shifts and overtime. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation.
