    The Position

    Management Analysts conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis of management and administrative areas such as budgeting and financial analysis; departmental operations; legislative analysis; management research; and statistical and informational analysis.

    Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

    This position is with the Nevada State Athletic Commission located in Las Vegas and is its own agency directly under the Governor's Office. The major purpose of this position is to conduct a variety of studies, research and analysis that include management and administrative areas, budgeting and financial, departmental operations, legislative process, management research, statistical and informational analysis. This position may supervise administrative support personnel and may be responsible for Monthly Commission Meeting and Agenda preparations, State Reporting, Public Records Requests, Records and Retention Reviews, Health and Safety Coordinator, HR Personnel Liaison, Supervisor Staff Evaluations, Budget Development, Budget and Invoice Tracking, Grants Administrator, Annual Inventory and Disposition Tracking, Travel Coordinator, Certified Contract Manager, New Promoter Applicant Liaison, Certified POC for Fingerprint Processing and Audits, AD HOC Projects, Office Purchasing, IT Setup Liaison and Front Desk phone coverage.***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED.     To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and two years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above. Special Notes Some positions may require additional certification(s) at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment, which will be identified at the time of recruitment.     The presence of Nevada's earliest inhabitants, beginning about 12,400 years ago, is marked by many petroglyphs and archaeological sites. Baskets, decoys, and ingenious traps are evidence of the resourcefulness of these early people in a harsh and arid environment.

On October 31, 1864, President Lincoln proclaimed Nevada's admission to the Union as the 36th state. The State's first elected Governor, Henry Blasdel, took office on December 5, 1864.

    Today, Nevada is the nation's seventh largest state in land area. Several hundred mountain ranges cross its landscape, many with elevations over 10,000 feet. In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
