    The Position

    Personnel Analysts are responsible for performing comprehensive personnel functions for a state department, division or agency. Work may involve employee relations, recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee development, benefit administration, staffing and payroll.

    Under direction, Personnel Analyst I's perform entry level professional personnel work as described in the series concept in one or more functional areas in Human Resource Management or a State agency.

    The Nevada Department of Veterans Services (NDVS) is recruiting for a Personnel Analyst 1. This position is geographically located at the NDVS Headquarters Office in Reno. Under the direction of the Personnel Officer, the incumbent will provide professional human resources services to NDVS in the North. The position is responsible for interpreting and applying federal and state statutes, regulations, policies and procedures; engaging in low-complexity employee relations issues; conducting recruitments and hiring processes; coordinating FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and ADA requests; coordinating employee work performance standards and evaluation processes; tracking training requirements; ensuring appropriate support and back-up is provided in the absence of the southern Personnel Technician and Personnel Analyst; complete special projects and other duties as assigned. The work schedule is Monday through Friday; 8am to 5pm with 1 hour lunch.

    To Qualify:

    In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
    Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in public administration or a related field; OR three years of experience as a Personnel Technician III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. This position requires a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility at the time of appointment and for continuing employment. The Examination Application Evaluation Exam The exam will consist of an application evaluation. It is essential that applications include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.

In contrast, the State's lowest point (along the Colorado River) is only 470 feet above sea level. From majestic mountains to desert valleys, nature has endowed Nevada with diverse and unique ecosystems.
