    A Planner II job is available with the City of Fort Worth Environmental Services Department. Environmental Services works to safeguard the environment and foster sustainable, thriving neighborhoods through education and engagement with the community to manage waste, advocate for health and safety, and reduce incidents of environmental pollution. This position serves as a Keep Fort Worth Beautiful coordinator, leading and assisting multiple large-scale, public-facing projects throughout the year and maintaining the organization's programs. This position is also part of the Planning & Analytics team, supporting data-driven initiatives through data analysis, metrics gathering, GIS mapping, research, and local environmental and neighborhood-level studies. The successful candidate must be able to use computer software and technology to support the overall planning process, which includes development, implementation, and evaluation/measurements of plans, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to work with a diverse set of internal and external customers.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Planning, Urban Planning or Design, Geographic Information Systems, Architecture, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, Archaeology or Architectural History, Real Estate Development, or a related field
    • Two years of experience in planning, urban design, or a related field

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners
    • Experience or interest in leading and supporting outreach and education activities and events on behalf of Keep Fort Worth Beautiful and the Environmental Services department
    • Strong writing and editing skills for developing a variety of public-facing and internal documents
    • Skilled in comprehensive data analysis, statistics, data visualization, and presentation of results in written and oral presentation methods
    • Project management skills and the ability to work collaboratively to manage multiple programs, projects, and initiatives
    • Proficiency in MS Office software; GIS, Adobe InDesign, or other document layout and graphic design software

    The Planner II job responsibilities include:
    • Gathers and reports pertinent data relevant to planning activities and provides professional assistance to supervisory and management staff.
    • Researches and analyzes data to identify trends or needs, and makes recommendations or develops strategies to address needs.
    • Assists Senior Planners in performing special studies in program evaluation and compiles statistical data.
    • Develops and reviews City ordinances and other documentation related to environmental planning.
    • Educates residents and community members on environmental topics and City resources.
    • Works closely with the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful Coordinator to serve as a team lead for programs and initiatives.
    • Other duties include fulfilling daily and short-term project requests, technical writing (to include grants and reports), project evaluation and implementation, program management, and data management.

    Medical Program

    The City offers two plan options through Meritain Health, an Aetna company.

    The Health Center Plan – Offers employees and their family’s

Employees can visit any one of the three City of Fort Worth Employee Health Centers and receive guaranteed same or next day appointments for sick visits. Also, services are available at any one of the five satellite locations that serves employees across the city.

    The Consumer Choice Plan – Is offered to employees at no cost or low monthly premiums to cover eligible dependents and provides the financial benefits of a Health Savings Account (HSA).

    • Preventative services are covered at 100% on both plans.
    • Prescription Drug coverage including mail order pharmacy are also included.

    Vacation

    Eligible for 3 weeks of vacation: After successful completion of probationary period (usually
    6 months), employees may take time off for rest, relaxation, vacation, illness, religious observances, and personal business.

    Holidays

    Available on the first day of employment, the city provides employees with paid holidays, including two personal holidays.

    Wellness Program

    The city’s Healthy Challenge Wellness Program rewards all full-time, benefit-eligible employees on the city’s health insurance. The Healthy Challenge Program utilizes a points system. Participants may earn points throughout the year (Jan. 1-Dec. 15) for completing specific program activities and participants can redeem points at the end of the year for a cash reward. By participating, individuals can earn $150, $200 or $250 by accumulating program points.
